Car Cleaning Newbie Snow Foam Question

Done a quick search on this forum re snow foam. From what i can work out you fit an attachment to your hose or power washer which incorporates a little bottle to put the snow foam mixture in. You pw or hose the car and a thick (ish) foam covers the car, similar to the stuff you get at petrol station jet washes. The you get your mit/sponge/yorkshire terrier and give the car a rub over, then rinse. THEN you have a nice clean car ready for polish/wax/naked ladies.

Whats the benifit over just normal car detergent?
