This is the way I find it works best.
As I do some car valeting as a part time earner :) i'll share this with you, and it works.

All you need is some pro-valeting clay bar, (old bits ready to throw away after this)
Mix up some car shampoo in a spray bottle, alloy wheel polish, or wax for after removal.

Using the clay bar, do one area at a time, be perpared to spend up to an hout on each wheel if you want it perfect :)
