Polish recommendations for black paint

[64 SPLIT]

I'm looking to buy a complete set of polishes and pads having just bought one of those orange silverline polishers (still need to get a smaller backing plate as I understand the ones supplied are a bit too big and are likely to cause damage).

I've got a couple of old doors to practice on before I start on my car.
But before I go waste any money on the 'wrong' items, can someone recommend a good set of pads and polishes.
I'd like to get rid of the swirl marks and a couple of deeper scratches from my black estate,
but also be able to bring the paint up to a nice high gloss before I wax it.
