Advice needed

I got rid of my B7 last year but I'm now considering getting a B8.

I have always had 2.0 diesels including the car I've currently got, but I like the look of the R line and there seems to be a lot with the 1.5 TSI EVO 150 engine. Certainly more than 2.0 diesels. I've seen a 68 plate R line manual which I'm hoping to go and see tomorrow.
Is the 1.4 worth considering as well?

I would like to know what other owners of this engine think about it, as I doubt I'll get a decent motorway test drive. What sort of average consumption can be expected. Performance etc. I do 10k miles a year mostly motorway miles. I know it won't match the diesel, although my current car just gets into the low 50's when on the motorway, so I can live with a reduction in mpg within reason!
