Lots of cranking to start(sometimes)

Post by smilie121 »

So a neighbour bought an almost identical passat to mine

150Bhp Tech Business or highline. Very similar except some options and trim. Engine has done 94k and on a 15 plate

Some mornings it can crank upwards of 6 seconds before firing. Says it never happens if engine is warm. Its done this past few weeks on and off and doesn't seem weather related (he says) as its been above 15 degrees some times. He also thinks if he turns ignition on first and then again to start (foot on brake second time) then it will start mote easily.

Its not failed to fire yet. Start stop is still enabled and have offered to disable via OBDeleven to see if it makes a difference.

No service history past 68k but oil looks good to me. Was going to check fuel filter? It was serviced when he bought it and oil suggests so
