Auto Hold and Handbrake Failed

Complete failure, even the parking brake doesnt come on. Relying on Park (its an auto) to hold it on my sloping drive, oh and a brick in front of a wheel as a bit of insurance.
Its going in on Friday under warranty so hopefully get sorted but thought I'd post with the info.
The dealership said never had such a failure on a Passat. I thought it was a fairly common fault. Maybe they are told to say that! Anyway said they would order some preemptive parts (their words) so hopefully will get fixed. Only thing I can think of is I went through several lots of floodwater last week. Nothing ridiculous, but enough to go through slowly. Maybe coincidence.
