the tool is an autel maxscan vag 405
the car is a 1997 1.8t sport passat aeb engine code
i have reset the oil/service insp light but the tool will not connect with the car for diagnostics it comes up with a link error what the manual says is probably because the module is not supported on the vehicle
now with the car having a diagnostic port i would have thought the car would support diagnostics on the engine
the reason i asked for this tool is so i can run a diagnostic check on the car and see if i have any faults not to just reset the service light
anyone have any experiance of these scanners that can shed some light on my problem or does anyone live in sheffield that would let me plug the scanner into their car and see if it comunicates with their car
