Anybody had to have a VIC test done on their Passat by DVLA?

Post by jay2 »

As per title, anybody been through the Vehicle Identity Check by the DVLA?

Car got a bump on the rear end and put it through the insurance. Ended up being a Cat C, purely due to the cost of a new bumper and colour coding costing more than the car is valued at by the Glass Guide.

Anyway, damage to the bumper once cleaned up is a small slight hump and some minor impact cracks to the paintwork. Engineer said would need new bumper before VIC test. But now I'm wondering if I really need to go to trouble of swapping the bumper?

Everyone so far has asked if I'd done this already, as unless you know to check, the bumper looks ok and on close inspection looks nothing worse than a car park ding.

From what I've read the inspection is more to do with the identity of the car rather than any repair work, but any advice or help from someone that's been through the test would be great!

I've got a replacement bumper without any knocks buts its bright red.
Returning to the fold.......07 Passat Estate 4Motion standard.....so far................ :D
