Water pump failure under warranty - where do I stand on labo

Post by Digbum »

Hi,
I had a cambelt kit and water pump fitted (to my b5.5 tdi 130) just under 12 months ago at a local independent. The water pump developed a major coolant leak a couple of days ago - still within warranty period.

I got the passat to a local garage - originally thinking it was a holed radiator... and I have been quoted £500 for a new pump and timing kit by this garage.

So, I contacted the garage that fitted the pump and liming kit last year (a separate garage). This garage said to bring the car in to get things sorted.

I'm going to drop it off tomorrow but I'm wondering where I stand with regard to labour costs for the fix.

Should I be expecting to pay full labor costs minus the cost of the replacement pump, none of the labour for the fix, or something in between.

Be handy to know what I can argue for - particularly as I'm skinto after shelling out for a t4 last week.
