Provent Oil Catch Cans

Hi
What does the Forum Knowledgable know about the above - which seems to be used by many Down Under to minimise the problems with DPF filters (caused by soot in exhaust mixing with oil spray - my understanding.
There is also suggestion that a 7mm (yes just that) in a plate blanking off the EGR valve will still allow it to function but minimise the problems - again used down under..........
The POCC is manufactured by Mann & Hummel.
