Decided to start a thread, some of us are installing Android head units, and getting to grips with them.

Maybe itll merit a sticky if its useful.

It wont be long before some of us Android fans start messing with them.

Units like :

Eonon GA5153V : RK3066 chipset (Arm9 2 x 1.6ghz) - 800*480(WVGA) 8 inch display - Android OS 4.4.4 (Kit-Kat)
Eonon GA5153F : RK3188 chipset (Arm9 4 x 1.6ghz) - 800*480(WVGA) 8 inch display - Android OS 4.4.4 (Kit-Kat)

These are units based on common hardware reference designs found in many units coming on the market.

So called "Hui Fei" design units :

http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Hu ... Head_Units

Theres a wealth of info in that wiki, including modding, rooting and fixes for issues with nav apps like sygic etc.

For the Eonon units mentioned I found one that might be compatible but Im not certain til I read more :

Malaysk ROM's : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpos ... count=7614

ROM Repository of custom ROM's : http://huifei.fs-fileserver.de/content/firmware/

Something on Android auto would be interesting but who knows.

Read the entire wiki, you have to be VERY careful reflashing, there are many differences despite the common basic reference design, it could be extremely easy to brick the units. Flash the wrong image with the wrong component support you could lose critical items, not least display etc. Or corrupt partitions or even end up with wrong partitioning etc.
