Stereo cuts out when starting car Help

I have a Kenwood single din KVT-526DVD. Originally I just plugged it in and it Worked fine, turned on with the ignition... But it wouldn't save my presets and settings ect so I swapped the ignition and battery wires over on the harness as advised on another forum. So now it comes on with my ignition and saves presets ect but when I start the car it cuts out and doesn't turn on again. It will turn back on with the engine running if i press the reset button but I don't think I should have to do this every time I start the car? Does anyone have any idea as to why this is happening and how to prevent it from happening.
