If you have a poor or no washer jet you could have a loose or blown elbow in the N/S storage cupboard in the boot.
How to fix washer elbow leak in rear N/S area of estate boot.
Go to your local pneumatics wholesalers and get the following.

Or you can get them online.
Although 5mm is not a common size where as 4mm and 6mm are but it's 5mm you need.
This site does 5mm.

5mm Black code = PM0405E straight
5mm Black code = PM0305E elbow

Assuming it's a 5mm pipe vw have used in all there models.
Mine is a 51plate 130 sport estate. B5.5.

1 - 5mm straight through pushfit connector
1 - 5mm elbow pushfit connecotr
A bit 5mm pipe, about a foot will do. Although you only use about 2" the rest is just to make it easy to hold onto while you push it in.

First cut of the existing elbow and the existing connector that fits into the elbow on the downward section of pipe. This will leave you with just 2 bits of cut pipe.

With your new bits push the through connector onto you new bit of pipe then push this onto your existing downward section of pipe.
Take your elbow and push onto your existing bit of pipe coming from the front of the car making sure the other end of the elbow is facing up in the right direction to connect with your new bit of pipe. Line things up and see where you need to cut your new bit of pipe. Cut it and push onto your new elbow. Job done.

Tools required - side cutters / pliers anything that will cut the pipe for you, that's all the tools you need.
