Hi folks,
We've just got ourselves a 2016 Passat 2.0 GT TDI BLUEMOTION TECH Estate and I'm slowly figuring out how things work with it! Rather different to my trusty 2007 Volvo V50 with 214k miles on the clock, which finally has to go due to a small electical fault that would cost overy £1k to rectify even if everything went as planned..!
The 'new' car has come with a few oddities that I'm trying to sort out and hoped I might find answers here.
1. The NAV SD card is missing and the NAV system therefore doesn't work. It's a Discover Media MIB2 head so I've already worked out that I need a genuine SD card (on order from eBay) and can then push the latest updates to that...
2. The App connect, e.g. Apple Carplay, comes up asking for a license or update to activate. That's a feature we really want to use, so I've asked about it on another thread here...
3. The key blade of the spare key is missing. I've spoken to an independent auto key specialist and they reckon it's easier to get a replacement cut by VW as only they can get the VW original blanks, so I've contacted my local dealer. Hopefully they don't charge ridiculous money for that as it's not exactly a hard or time consuming thing to do given they have all the kit.
4. I was expecting this car to use / require AdBlue as it's a Euro 6, but I cannot find the filler port in the boot or next to the fuel port... From reading another thread here and a few other places, it seems like this car might not actually use AdBlue at all! Weird! I had assumed all Euro 6 diesels would need it. Does anyone have any information on what technology is used instead?
Anyway, hopefully folks here with more experience / knowledge will be able to help me out..
