Heater control illumination query

Am I correct that the bulb holder for the heater panel illumination is integrated into the "pointer" of the middle control? (inside the knob itself)

The pointer is missing out of mine (b4) and having just stripped it all down, removed the panel etc. that's all I can guess... (Orignally assumed it was within the white reflector housing behind the panel.)

Final question: If I'm correct, which (more plentiful) cars is this component shared with? (I guess 6n polo and mk3 golf?)
