Wheel width and offset help??!

Hi im picking up a passat next week, and am slamming it on coilovers and some new wheels.
The wheels im looking at are 18" and are 8" front, 9" rear. They can supply all wheels in 8". But both widths are et35, i know the front will be ok, but will 9" on the rear at et35 fit, or rub?
Is anybody running 8 up front and 9s on the rear? and did you need spacers or use a different offset?
Or shall i stick with 8" all round?
Any helps appreciated guys
