Vaccuum Ball problem

Post by Mindriot »

Hi folks, seems Ive got a problem.

Lost throttle response and traced it to the vaccuum ball, the vac pipe has snapped the spigot sticking out of it.

First let me say what a stupid design, you can detatch the ball but you cannot get it out of there! Theres not enough room to remove it.

Anyways, I released the ball, plugged the original hole with a screw and drilled and epoxied a new fitting and refitted the vac pipe and ball, repair is good. However, it seems Ive now got very slow throttle response even though the engine is running ok. Braking etc is all good.

Going to have to take it all apart again today but wondering what people think.

The only difference with my repair is that the new fitting is about twice the internal diameter of the old one, however in theory that shouldnt matter as the pipe itself is still 3mm internal diameter.

Ill have to double check everything today but any ideas welcome.
