Climatronic - suspected blocked drain tube?

Post by alpenweiss2 »

Hello Guys and gals!

I have a suspected blocked drain tube on the Climatronic A/C System on our 1999 Passat Wagon. It is definitely condensed water from the A/C unit as I don't get any leaks whatsoever when it rains and it is definitely not coolant. In fact the only time I get a wet passenger side footwell is after using the aircon.

I have read that the drain tube goes out through the bulkhead on the passenger side and has a rubber valve/nipple thing on the end that can get blocked up over time with gunk, then condensed water backs up all the way to the tray under the aircon unit and this floods over?

Any clues as to where to find this? Do I need to jack the car up? Any help on this I would be very grateful! :esm
