Err i think i have just messed up......
So today i fixed a leaky front core plug in my 1999 B5 Tdi and while i was there replaced all the o-rings in the pump housing. The problem is in my ultimate wisdom i removed the fuel pump as all the timing belt and sprockets were off anyway to get better access.
Reflecting that was a mistake...... so as i was reassembling it all i noticed the pump is on slotted holes, so checked and sure enough it's timed, and i can't see a clean bit where it was and i don't have the full VCDS.
I'm slightly worried that it could do some damage if i run it out of time.
So have i just made a $100 mistake, does it require the full VCDS package to time the pump or can it be timed by another means? it does seem to run ok, but i'm just kicking myself for not marking it up
Just when i thought i was getting somewhere....... what a muppet.
