B5.5 Wing mirrors

I have done a search, but can't find what I'm after so....
How do you strip down the wing mirrors on the 5.5? I've for a bloody annoying rattle/resonance coming from the drivers mirror during a certain rev range and it's getting on my nerves now what with the nice weather and stop start commute to work and back, it's pretty much constantly "buzzing"
