Has my car been remapped?

Hi folks, last week I bought a 2003 1.9tdi SE saloon from a dealer,the car has 191,000 miles on it, one owner and a stamped service history.
I am advised that this car is a 100 bhp model so did not expect much in the way of performance. However, now that I have stopped nursing it along and let it stretch its legs a little I am amazed at the performance to the extent that I am wondering why there is a 130 bhp option when 100 bhp drives so well?
Hence my question -has this car been re mapped? I have yet to get the log book back so can't speak to the previous owner - is there any way of checking if the car has been re mapped or would I need specialist equipment?
As a footnote - if I had known how well these cars drove I would have bought one long ago - fast, smooth, quiet and comfortable - brilliant car
