buuton next to gearstick?

I have a question could someone tell me what the small red button next to the bottom of the cowling does.
i have a 1999 1,8 manual and there is nothing in the handbook that helps,
i was just wondering what its for as when i press it nothing seems to change and theres no sound so!!!!
