setting steering angle sensor issues

Hi, my esp light keeps coming on after driving for a while, it usually appears along a long straightish stretch of road. Also my ESP on/off button does not do anything at all even before the esp light comes on when driving. I'm sure this issue started following my cruise control install.
A fault code has been coming up which is brake light switch implausible signal. I have since replaced this switch but still have issues.

I was thinking it may be to do with the steering angle sensor. i followed the rosstech guide on how to do it. i get as far as looking at the basic settings panel in vagcom, the instructions say to press 'go' however it is greyed out at this point. I''m also not sure if it has the right readings in place.
