B5.5 PD130 - Blue smoke!!!

Hey guys, my 53 plate b5.5 pd130 (170,000 miles) throws blue smoke out on start up, only when cold, and starts/idles really lumpy until you set off.

The worst of it clears after 30 seconds or so but its seriously like a smoke machine back there and stinks.

Definitely blue smoke.

I wondered if you guys could advise on the easiest method of checking the various possible faults.

Turbo seals - remove the pipes before starting and look for oil sat in the turbo?
valve stem seals - leak down test?
rings - compression test im guessing?
