gearbox whine

The dreaded diff whine has become audible in my 6 speed box. ALSO, a sort of shuddering when accelerating hard through the gears, a bit like suddenly coming onto a hard rippled road surface, not there driving normally, I'm wondering if this is gearbox related, what do you think chaps? Rod.
