B7 1.6 tdi idle surge

Noticed random problem with my tdi.
Pull up to a standstill so car is idling.
Revs pulse from 900rpm to 1200rpm....
Odd.
Car has had the ecu update.
Also noticed cooling fan running after turning off quite often. Even on short 5 minute runs up the road.
