I've recently purchased my second Passat diesel after a hiatus and ended up with a great 12 reg 2.0tdi BMT.
It only came with 1 key as the owner had lost the other with his wallet on a train somewhere.
Anyway, it just came with the one key and I'm looking to get another as back up.
A bit of googling suggests a VW dealer purchase only as these keys can't be coded/programmed.
Is this true? And how much am I looking at for a new one, I fear its going to be pricey
Also the fob I have has a plastic key blade, I thought it should be metal, can any shed any light on this?
