Brake pad sensor cable

Hello folks...
Check brake pad warning light came on. Took car to the garage thinking it was just a case of needing new pads (rear set) only to discover that in fact, it was the front near side pad wear sensor cable had snapped.
Is this possible to repair and if so how? Is it a case of new loom as the chap at the garage intimated but wasn't certain? Can the cable be stripped back and soldered to a new socket?
Any ideas or suggestions please?
