Electrical VCDS Guru required!

OK, 2008 Passat CC, located Warrington Cheshire.
Right hand rear sidelight not working on the outer bulb of the inner light cluster.
Changed the bulb thinking this would be easy but it still doesn't light up and the error still comes up on the MFD!
Checked the bulb off the car by supplying power to it and it works fine as does the one that was in there originally.
I've tried a couple of bulbs as the first one I tried was a basic one from the local motor factors so just in case the car was fussy I then tried some Bosch ones hoping it might be that but as you can guess, it wasn't and it still wont work.
Got my neighbor to run his vcds and it gave the following error which he cleared and it re-appeared.
Anyone got any ideas/suggestions?
