This car hates me!!! (Door handle stopped working!!)

Just went to pick up my kids in the snow... It did brilliantly, even with its dodgy Haldex controller!! Got the kids all back out to the car. Pressed the unlock button (I have it set to just do the drivers door) my daughter pulled the handle on the passengers side rear door. Obviously it wouldn't open.... But now it will only open from the inside.

Did a quick search online to find this is a common occurance & a good slam of the door should realgn it..... Went out to car, opened door from inside. Slammed the door - did it work??? No I heard something falling down inside the door instead!!! Anyone else had to delve further????
