Potential problems

Hi, I'm new to the forum so go easy.

I'm after some advice on what to look for when buying Passat. I've seen what seems like a nice 140 tdi Passat se with 63k on the clock. I read that there not very reliable after I've placed a deposit down on it? now I find that hard to believe but would like some owner experiences on what the most common faults are and if this particular model is plagued with any.
I really like the car but I'm a little put off after reading bad reviews from disgruntled owners online.
