2006 2.0TDI -Engine management light flashing and wont start

Hi all,
As per the title, I have a 2006 2.0TDI 140bhp passat, 109K miles.
Last night while driving, the engine cut out and the engine management light kept flashing for a couple of minutes. Tried restarting, engine management light stayed off, battery and exhaust light are on, all dash lights are on and the engine seems to be turning over, but still wouldnt start.
Luckily was only couple of hundred meters from home so got it pushed to the house, waiting for the local VW garage to arrange a visit to check diagnostics,
Anyone got any ideas? Any input appreciated
