Installing ipod connectivity

I have just bought a 2007 Passat B6 but have realised it has no ipod connection. It has no port in the glove box. What is the easiest way of enabling Ipod use with the RCD300 radio/cd player. I have seen the XCarLink interface for £79, which I believe connects to a port at the back of the RCD300. Is this the best and easiest solution to overcoming the lack of an Ipod connection.
