Cheapest way to get a new key?

Afternoon all.
I only have one key and a Kessy blank for my car and was wondering if you can give any advice on the cheapest way to get a spare key fob? VW quoted me something like £360 for one which i laughed at! I have full VCDS and can code a key if required and if its possible, how hard can it be?
