Tdi Estate Raer PArking Sensors Retrofit. Neater Option?

What is it with VW? I have a 60 plate Highline and it doesn't have parking sensors on the back. I don't know of another manufacturer that didn't fit sensors on this type of car back then (apart from GM).
So I need to retrofit rear sensors before I hit another car on Costco carpark again!
Most of the retrofit kits I've seen look, well like retrofit kits and I'm not keen on drilling holes in the painted part of the bumper. Quite a few manufacturers have them further down (my BMW has them right at the bottom of the bumper and so did my Mk4 Golf). So I'd like to fit reversing sensors in the black part at the bottom of the bumper as I think it will look really neat and should work well.
Has anyone done this? I can see two minor problems: 1. I will need to angle the sensors somehow. 2. I may need smaller sensors?
