Car got towed to the garage, any ideas!?

This morning I did about 2 miles of driving after a cold start. It felt a little hesitant on full throttle but I've had this before when cold. Anyway, got to a red traffic light, turned to green, few revs on, it spluttered and died and refuses to start.
It cranks OK, but the RAC bloke said it sounds like there's no compression as its turning over. I must admit it didn't sound like it had any intentions of starting. The crank noise wasn't what I'm familiar with.
The cambelt was rotating, its due a belt this year anyway if its not fully dead.
He did see a low fuel pressure fault but nothing else.
Fingers crossed she can be fixed.
