I was looking for the right sort of Berlingo to replace the one I'd worn out but I was told about the Passat that was for sale nearby. It was in such good condition I just had to have it! So I have 2008 Tdi 4motion Sport and, I have to say, really enjoy using it. There's one thing that worries me though. Our favourite caravan rental (and probably the only one we can afford this year) is several hundred metres off the tarmac down a very rutted stony track. This is a private road with a few houses but the people there own SUVs, Land Rovers and the like. The Berlingo breezed it, as you can imagine. Some parts of this track are so narrow it's impossible to ride on the ridges – you have to go in the ruts. I'm worried about taking a Passat along it, especially a model that is apparently 15mm lower than the others. What exactly are the dangers; what parts of the car are the most vulnerable?
