Radio aerial differences 2008 and 2009

I am trying to install a radio from a 2009 Passat into a 2008 car. Unfortunately, the aerial connections are not the same. As you can see from the pics, the 2008 car has two separate leads, but the 2009 combines the leads into a single block. Apart from chopping the wires and bodging a connection, does anybody have any idea how to do this in a better way ? BTW, why are there two aerial leads ? Are there two aerials ?
