MP3 misunderstanding

Post by UncleBuck »

Hi.
I've just bought a Passat and didn't think it had an iPod connector....I was wrong. Anyway, to get around this assumed problem I bought a cheap bit of gear off eBay that lets you play music from an SD. card or plugged in Mp3 player by transmitting it on a frequency you can tune your radio into. Only cost about a fiver.
I then got a 4GB SD card and began copying CD's from my lap top onto it. 25 CD's in all so I stopped to test it out.
Didn't get a sound, no songs no nothing. So I checked the content of the card and discovered I'd inadvertently copied all the music in MP4a format, blooming senile old git I am. The player will only transmit Mp3's, so I'm sat here re-naming all the tracks of the 25 CD's to Mp3. Boring!!!!! :ymdaydream:
You live and learn.

Good luck, oh and I hope you don't require a crisp quality to the tracks as those FM transmitters are scetchy at best

Thanks, but I've discovered I can plug my trusty iPod into the connector in the arm rest.
I only use this feature when I'm touring around the Lake District as it's impossible to keep the radio on station due to all the mountains.

In my manual it says that only sd cards upto 2gb work, and I've tried a 2, 4 and 8 in mine and only the 2gb worked!

Hi,
I've posted on other subject re buying another head unit with Ipod connectivity and Bluetooth hands free phone for less than the cost of the MDI unit required for the built in RCD310 unit. so have a look in ICE and do away with the VW unit.
